Kevin Rüegg

Kevin Rüegg began his footballing education at local clubs FC Greifensee and FC Uster, developing his foundational skills between 2005 and 2008.

He subsequently joined the renowned FC Zürich youth academy, spending nearly a decade honing his physical attributes and tactical awareness before making his professional debut in 2017.

Kevin Rüegg's professional career officially launched with FC Zürich, where he debuted in the Swiss Challenge League in early 2017. He played a crucial role in helping the club secure promotion back to the Swiss Super League. His exceptional leadership qualities and consistent performances led to him being named club captain at a remarkably young age. During his time at Zürich, he also won the Swiss Cup in the 2017-2018 season, cementing his status as one of Switzerland's brightest prospects.

Seeking stability, Rüegg joined FC Basel initially on loan for the 2023-2024 season, a move that was made permanent in July 2024. At Basel, he quickly became a regular fixture on the right side of the defense, utilizing his vast experience to bring stability to the team. By the 2025-2026 season, he continues to be a dependable asset for FC Basel in both domestic and European competitions.

Internationally, Rüegg was a standout performer for the Switzerland youth national teams, notably captaining the Under-21 squad. While he has primarily focused on his club career recently, his consistent performances in the Swiss Super League keep him in consideration for senior international call-ups.
