Anas Abdulsalam Abdulla Abweny

Anas Abweny received his foundational footballing education within the prestigious youth academy of Al-Sadd SC. The academy focused heavily on possession-based football, teaching him how to control the midfield, distribute the ball accurately under pressure, and read the game tactically. His subsequent loan spell in Spain further refined his technical skills and exposed him to European training methodologies.

Anas Abweny began his transition into senior football by seeking consistent playing time outside of his parent club, Al-Sadd SC. Between January 2022 and June 2023, he spent a productive developmental period with Al-Shamal SC, gaining his first significant exposure to the physical demands of professional football in the Middle East. He returned briefly to Al-Sadd before embarking on a highly beneficial loan move to Spain.

During the 2024–2025 season, Abweny played for CD Calahorra II in the Spanish lower leagues. Making 25 appearances and scoring once, this European experience was crucial for his tactical maturation. He learned to operate in tighter spaces, improved his defensive positioning, and adapted to the faster pace of Spanish football, returning to Qatar a much more well-rounded midfielder.

Upon returning in July 2025, he completed another short loan spell with Al-Shahaniya SC before finally reintegrating into the Al-Sadd first-team squad in January 2026. Since his return, he has featured regularly in the Qatar Stars League, providing valuable depth and tactical flexibility for the club as they secured the league championship in the 2025–2026 season.

Internationally, Abweny has a strong pedigree within the Qatari youth system. He represented the U20 squad and has been a regular fixture for the Qatar U23 team since late 2023, participating in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. His consistent club form and youth international experience led to his inclusion in the senior national team setup, making several appearances from August 2025 onward.

Heading further into 2026, Anas Abweny's primary objective is to solidify a permanent starting role in the highly competitive Al-Sadd midfield. He also continues to push for regular inclusion in the Qatar national squad as they navigate the rigorous World Cup qualification cycle.

Born and raised in Qatar, Anas Abweny holds dual nationality with Jordan but is deeply committed to his career with the Qatari national team. He is a proud product of the domestic development system and frequently credits the local infrastructure for providing him with the opportunities to succeed professionally. He seamlessly bridges the gap between different cultures within the locker room.
