Abul Hayat

Abul Hayat completed his primary and secondary education at Chittagong Collegiate School and Railway High School. He later enrolled at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), where he earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, laying the groundwork for his initial corporate career.

Abul Hayat commenced his acting journey on television with the drama "Oedipus" in 1969. This pivotal debut marked the beginning of a prolific television career that would eventually span over a thousand dramas. His powerful voice, impeccable diction, and natural acting style quickly made him a household name in Bangladesh.

In the 1970s, he transitioned to the silver screen, making his cinematic debut in the renowned film "Titash Ekti Nadir Naam" in 1973. This joint-venture film between India and Bangladesh allowed him to showcase his talent to a broader audience. Throughout the decades, he carefully selected roles that offered depth and social relevance, earning immense critical acclaim.

The 1980s and 1990s witnessed his iconic collaborations with legendary writers and directors, most notably Humayun Ahmed. He delivered unforgettable performances in classic television serials such as "Ei Shob Din Ratri," "Bohubrihi," and "Ayomoy." His portrayal of complex, nuanced characters during this golden era of Bangladeshi television solidified his status as an elite actor.

Beyond acting, Hayat is a founding member of the prestigious theater group Nagorik Natya Sampradaya. In addition to his performing arts career, Abul Hayat is a successful author, having published nearly thirty books since his debut novel "Trishnar Shanti" in 1989. He continues to actively contribute to the arts, remaining a vital force in the Bangladeshi cultural scene.

Abul Hayat married Shirin Hayat on February 4, 1970. Their enduring partnership has been a cornerstone of his personal life, providing stability throughout his demanding public career. Together, they have fostered a deeply creative and supportive household.

The couple has two daughters, Bipasha Hayat and Natasha Hayat, both of whom have successfully pursued their own careers in the media and fashion industries. His family network is deeply embedded in the arts, with his sons-in-law, Tauquir Ahmed and Shahed Sharif Khan, also being prominent actors and directors.

Despite his fame, Hayat maintains a grounded and disciplined lifestyle, heavily influenced by his early years as an engineer. He is an avid reader and passionate about literature, often dedicating his free time to writing new stage plays and novels. He is also actively involved in mentoring emerging theater artists.
