Suborna Mustafa completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from the prestigious University of Dhaka. Her academic journey was closely intertwined with her growing involvement in the Dhaka theatrical circuit.

Prior to her university education, she attended Holy Cross College in Dhaka, a renowned institution where she completed her higher secondary education.

Suborna Mustafa initiated her acting journey in the vibrant theatrical landscape of Dhaka. Drawing inspiration from her father, legendary actor Golam Mustafa, she immersed herself in stage performances, quickly gaining recognition for her exceptional talent. Her early theatrical endeavors built a strong foundation for her expansive career across multiple mediums.

She made her highly anticipated film debut in the critically acclaimed movie Ghuddi (1980), directed by Syed Salahuddin Zaki. Her performance in this groundbreaking independent film immediately established her as a formidable talent in the Bangladeshi film industry. She followed this success with compelling roles in commercial hits like Notun Bou (1983) and Nayon Moni.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Suborna became the defining face of Bangladeshi television dramas. Her frequent collaborations with eminent actors like Afzal Hossain and her then-husband Humayun Faridi resulted in some of the most iconic television series in the history of Bangladesh Television (BTV). Her ability to portray complex, strong-willed women revolutionized the small screen.

As a seasoned performer, she continued to take on challenging roles in both television and film well into the 2000s and 2010s. Her dedication to the craft never wavered, and she consistently adapted to the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry. She also served as a judge and mentor on various cultural platforms, sharing her vast knowledge with emerging talents.

In 2019, Suborna's career took a distinctive turn when she was elected as a Member of Parliament for a women's reserved seat representing the Bangladesh Awami League. This political role allowed her to advocate for cultural policies and women's rights on a national legislative level. Her dual legacy as an artistic pioneer and a public servant cements her unique place in Bangladeshi history.

Suborna Mustafa was born into an illustrious cultural family, being the daughter of the revered Bangladeshi actor Golam Mustafa. Growing up in this artistic milieu deeply influenced her career path and personal values from a very young age.

Her personal life has often been a topic of public interest. She was famously married to the iconic Bangladeshi actor Humayun Faridi in 1984, and their partnership was highly celebrated until their divorce in 2008.

Following her separation from Faridi, she married prominent television director and playwright Badrul Anam Saud later in 2008. The couple shares a strong personal and professional bond, frequently collaborating on various media projects.

Outside of acting and her political duties, Suborna is known for her love of cricket and is an avid follower of the Bangladesh national cricket team. She is also actively involved in numerous social causes advocating for women's empowerment.
