Zahid Hasan

Zahid Hasan completed his early schooling at Himabala High Boys School in his hometown of Sirajganj, where he actively participated in stage shows and local theatre. He later moved to the capital city of Dhaka to pursue higher education, successfully graduating from the prestigious Dhaka College while simultaneously building his acting career.

Zahid Hasan's journey in the performing arts began with a local theatre group, leading to his highly anticipated television debut in 1990 with the drama 'Jibon Jemon'. He gained immense mainstream popularity throughout the 1990s through leading roles in BTV adaptations. He became particularly famous for his unforgettable performances in Humayun Ahmed's hit television serials like the classic 'Aaj Robibar'.

His transition to the silver screen was equally successful and critically acclaimed. While he made his initial film appearance in 'Boloban' (1986), it was his starring role as Moti in the universally praised 1999 film 'Srabon Megher Din' that solidified his cinematic legacy. This powerful performance earned him the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor.

Over the decades, Zahid became the undisputed king of Bangladeshi television comedy and beloved sitcoms. His portrayal of quirky, relatable characters, such as the titular role in the long-running 'Arman Bhai' series, garnered him unprecedented mass appeal. These roles earned him numerous accolades, including multiple Meril Prothom Alo Awards for Best TV Actor.

In addition to his incredible acting prowess, Zahid Hasan successfully ventured into directing. He has helmed several popular television serials and teleplays, showcasing his multifaceted understanding of visual storytelling, character development, and comedic timing.

By 2008, he established his own successful production house, Pushpita Visuals. He has continued to take on challenging roles in recent years, appearing in critically acclaimed and festival-selected films like 'Shonibar Bikel' (Saturday Afternoon) and 'Haldaa', proving his enduring relevance in the evolving entertainment landscape.

Zahid Hasan was born into a large and supportive family in Sirajganj, being the youngest of eight siblings. He shared a very deep bond with his parents, Ilias Uddin Talukdar and Hamida Begum, and frequently speaks in interviews about the profound emotional impact of their passing on his life.

In 1997, Zahid married Sadia Islam Mou, a highly renowned Bangladeshi model and classical dancer. Their relationship, which began secretly during their early television days when dating was culturally difficult, has grown into one of the most stable and admired marriages in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry.

Together, Zahid and Mou have two children, a daughter named Pushpita and a son named Purno. Despite his massive fame, Zahid is known for his humility, often reflecting on his early struggles living in a shared mess in Dhaka. He credits those difficult early days for teaching him the invaluable life lessons of compromise, sharing, and forgiveness.
