Tonima Hamid

Tonima Hamid completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from the well-known Agrani Girls High School in Azimpur, Dhaka.

She then pursued higher education at the prestigious University of Dhaka, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in General History.

Driven by a passion for academia, she continued at the University of Dhaka to successfully complete her Master of Arts (MA) in History, which paved the way for her teaching career.

Tonima Hamid's acting journey began incredibly early, taking the stage at the tender age of three in the play Chalk Circle produced by the theatre group Natyachakra. Growing up in a household deeply entrenched in the arts, she naturally absorbed the nuances of theatrical performance. By the time she was in the 7th grade in 1992, she was taking on more substantial roles, such as in the stage adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's short story Mallodan.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tonima became a prominent figure in the Bangladeshi theater and television circuit. She delivered captivating performances in acclaimed stage plays like Hoimonti (1999), Shesher Kabita Noy, Lalgola, and Dristi (2001). Her association with Natyachakra, founded by her father, provided her with a robust platform to experiment with various dramatic genres and complex character arcs.

Transitioning to television, Tonima quickly became a beloved face in Bangladeshi drama serials and telefilms. She is happily married to Shamsul Haider Dalim, a well-known news anchor and media presenter in Bangladesh. Together, they share a supportive partnership that successfully navigates the pressures of their respective high-profile media careers. The couple has a son named Arniv, and Tonima frequently speaks about the joys and challenges of balancing motherhood with her professional endeavors.

In recent years, Tonima has focused heavily on her family and her academic career at East West University. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she publicly managed the health crisis when both her parents were hospitalized, showing immense personal resilience.
