He attended King Faisal Institute in Dhaka for his early schooling, where his athletic potential was first noticed.

Taskin later graduated with a degree from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), which has supported many of the country's top athletes.

Taskin Ahmed made a sensational entry into international cricket during the 2014 World T20, followed by a dream ODI debut against India where he took five wickets. His raw pace and charismatic celebrations immediately made him a national heartthrob and a focal point for the future of Bangladesh's bowling.

However, the early years of his career were plagued by recurring back and knee injuries, leading to several periods away from the game. During the late 2010s, he struggled with form and consistency, which saw him dropped from the national squad. By 2025, Taskin was ranked among the top 10 ODI bowlers in the world, having led his team to several series victories in South Africa and the West Indies. In the 2026 season, he achieved the milestone of 150 ODI wickets and continues to be the first-choice pacer for the national captain in all conditions.

His success has led to multiple offers from prominent T20 leagues globally, including the IPL and the Big Bash, where he has showcased his skills as a premier death-overs specialist. Despite his busy schedule, he remains a dedicated representative of the Bangladesh national team, often playing through minor niggles to serve his country.
