Shakib Khan spent a significant portion of his early life in Narayanganj due to his father's government job, which required frequent relocations. He completed his primary and secondary education in various local schools in the Narayanganj district.

While he initially focused on his academic studies, his growing passion for the performing arts eventually took precedence. He later completed a specialized dancing and choreography course under the guidance of renowned dance director Aziz Reza in 1995, which formally introduced him to the entertainment industry.

Shakib Khan's career began in 1999 when he made his first appearance on-camera in the romance film Sobai To Sukhi Hote Chay, directed by Aftab Khan Tulu. However, his official cinematic debut occurred later that year with the action-romantic film Ananta Bhalobasha. In 2010, his outstanding performance in the social drama Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na earned him his first National Film Award for Best Actor. He continued to challenge himself with critically acclaimed roles in films like Khodar Pore Ma (2012) and Swatta (2017), both of which won him further National Film Awards and proved his ability to balance commercial viability with critical acclaim.

Expanding his horizons, Shakib made his debut as a film producer in 2014 with the action-thriller Hero: The Superstar. His production company, SK Films, quickly became synonymous with high-quality entertainment, producing major blockbusters like Password in 2019. In 2023, he reached new heights with the tragic romance Priyotoma, which became the highest-grossing Bangladeshi film of all time, surpassing his own previous records and solidifying his megastar status.

In recent years, he has continued to push the boundaries of Bengali cinema with high-budget international collaborations. Shakib Khan was born into a respectable Muslim family to Abdur Rauf Sheikh, a government official, and Nurjahan, a dedicated homemaker. He shares a close bond with his sister and has always maintained a relatively private stance regarding his extended family life despite his massive public profile.

In his personal life, he has been married twice, first to co-star Apu Biswas and later to actress Shobnom Bubly, both of which ended in separation. He is a loving and devoted father to his two sons, Abraam Khan Joy and Shehzad Khan Bir, frequently spending quality time with them away from the media spotlight.
