Sanjida Akhter

Sanjida Akhter began her early education at Kolsindur Government Primary School (2011-2013), an institution famously known for nurturing top female football talent in Bangladesh.

She later attended local secondary schools in the Mymensingh district, managing to balance her rigorous national team training camps with her academic studies.

Currently, she is pursuing an undergraduate degree at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), underscoring her dedication to securing a strong educational foundation alongside her sports career.

Sanjida Akhter first showcased her immense potential during the 2011 Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup, representing Kolsindur Government Primary School. Her standout performances at the grassroots level quickly fast-tracked her into the national youth setups. By 2014, she was a key player for the Bangladesh Under-16 team during their AFC Championship qualification campaigns.

Her transition to the senior national team was seamless, driven by her speed and tactical awareness on the flanks. She was an integral part of the youth squads that dominated regional tournaments, including securing the AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship in 2015. These early successes laid the foundation for a golden generation of Bangladeshi women's football.

At the club level, Sanjida joined Bashundhara Kings in 2019, quickly establishing herself as a starting midfielder. She played a pivotal role in the club's back-to-back Bangladesh Women's Football League title victories in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Her consistent domestic form caught the attention of international scouts, leading to groundbreaking opportunities abroad.

In 2024, Sanjida made headlines by joining the prestigious Indian Women's League club East Bengal FC, showcasing her talents to a broader audience. She followed this up in 2025 by signing with Thimphu City FC in the Bhutan Women's National League, where she maintained a phenomenal goal-scoring record. Later that year, she returned to her home country to lead the Bangladesh Police team.

Internationally, her crowning achievements include lifting the SAFF Women's Championship trophy with the national team in both 2022 and 2024. As of 2026, Sanjida remains a dominant force on the right wing, consistently delivering match-winning performances and guiding her nation toward future continental competitions.
