Nahida Akter began her domestic cricket journey by playing for her local school team at the age of 11. Her raw talent and dedication quickly caught the attention of regional selectors. In 2017, she officially joined the Barisal Division team, marking her entry into competitive domestic circuits. She later transitioned to the Northern Zone team, solidifying her presence in Bangladesh's domestic sports framework.
Her international debut came at the remarkably young age of 15. On September 30, 2015, Nahida played her first Women's T20 International (WT20I) match against Pakistan in Karachi. Just days later, on October 4, 2015, she made her Women's One Day International (WODI) debut against the same opponent. These early appearances showcased her immense potential and earned her a permanent spot on the national roster.
In 2018, Nahida was a vital part of the Bangladesh squad that clinched the historic Women's Asia Cup title. Her economical bowling during the tournament was instrumental in the team's success against formidable opponents like India. The following year, she delivered a standout performance at the 2019 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier in Scotland, finishing as the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh with 10 wickets in just 5 matches.
Her career continued to soar as she achieved significant personal milestones. In November 2021, she claimed her maiden five-wicket haul in WODI matches during the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. In early 2022, she replicated this feat in the WT20I format by taking 5 wickets for just 12 runs against Kenya during the Commonwealth Games Cricket Qualifier.
One of her most historic achievements occurred in November 2023. Nahida became the first Bangladeshi female cricketer to win the prestigious ICC Women's Player of the Month award. By 2024, she had reached the incredible milestone of 100 WT20I wickets, further cementing her legacy as one of Bangladesh's greatest spin bowlers.
