Mohammad Shoriful Islam

Shoriful Islam completed his early education in his hometown of Panchagarh, where his primary focus was on local tape-tennis cricket tournaments.

He received his formal cricketing education and training through the Bangladesh Cricket Board's age-group development programs, significantly sharpening his skills before transitioning to professional leagues.

Shoriful Islam began his domestic cricket journey with a spectacular debut for Rajshahi Division in the 2017–2018 National Cricket League. His impressive ability to take crucial wickets quickly caught the attention of national selectors. He subsequently made his List A debut for Prime Bank Cricket Club, where he emerged as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.

In 2020, Shoriful played a defining role in the Bangladesh Under-19 team that clinched the ICC U-19 World Cup title in South Africa. His aggressive bowling spells and emotional celebrations became a trademark of the tournament. This landmark achievement propelled him into the senior national setup, setting the stage for his international debut.

Shoriful made his Twenty20 International debut for Bangladesh against New Zealand on March 28, 2021. Just a month later, he earned his first Test cap against Sri Lanka, followed by his One Day International (ODI) debut in May 2021. His seamless transition across all three formats showcased his versatility, stamina, and deep understanding of the game.

By 2023, he had established himself as a frontline bowler, notably becoming the third-fastest Bangladeshi to reach 50 ODI wickets. His performances in major tournaments, including the ICC T20 World Cups and the 2023 Cricket World Cup, solidified his reputation on the global stage. He also began attracting attention from overseas franchise leagues.

In 2024 and beyond, Shoriful's career expanded as he participated in top-tier franchise tournaments, including representing Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and dominating in the BPL. In early 2026, he secured a Grade C central contract from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). His continuous evolution as a fast bowler ensures that he remains a pivotal figure in Bangladesh's bowling unit for years to come.

Shoriful Islam grew up in a modest family in the northern district of Panchagarh, Bangladesh. Despite financial hurdles, his family strongly supported his passion for cricket, allowing him to pursue his athletic dreams. He remains deeply connected to his roots and frequently credits his parents for his success on the international stage.

In his personal life, Shoriful is married to Fardin Sheikh Chandni. The couple maintains a relatively private life away from the intense media scrutiny of professional sports. They enjoy spending time together with close friends and family members during the off-season.

Outside of cricket, Shoriful enjoys traveling, listening to music, and participating in local community events. He is also known for his philanthropic efforts, quietly supporting underprivileged young athletes in his hometown. He frequently donates sporting equipment to local academies, aiming to nurture the next generation of fast bowlers in Bangladesh.
