Md. Abul Hasnat

Hasnat Abdullah pursued his higher education at the prestigious University of Dhaka, an institution renowned for its history of student activism.

During his time at the university, he actively balanced his academic responsibilities with his growing involvement in socio-political movements, shaping his future career trajectory.

Hasnat Abdullah's public life began during his tenure as a student at the University of Dhaka, where he became deeply involved in student politics and social activism. He gained nationwide recognition in mid-2024 as a leading convener of the Students Against Discrimination movement. This organization spearheaded the quota reform protests, which rapidly evolved into a broader national uprising against systemic inequalities.

During the intense months of the July Revolution, Hasnat demonstrated remarkable courage and strategic foresight. Despite facing severe intimidation and periods of detention by law enforcement agencies, he remained steadfast in his demands for justice and accountability. His clear communication and resolute leadership helped sustain the movement's momentum during its most critical phases.

Following the successful culmination of the protests and the subsequent shift in national power dynamics, Hasnat transitioned toward formal political organizing. Recognizing the need for a sustained political platform to enact the movement's ideals, he joined the emerging National Citizen Party. In February 2025, he was appointed as the Chief Organizer for the Southern Region, a testament to his exceptional organizational capabilities.

His work with the National Citizen Party involved extensive grassroots campaigning, focusing on voter education and political engagement among younger demographics. He successfully translated the energy of the street protests into a structured political campaign. His message of systemic reform and anti-corruption resonated deeply with the electorate in his home region.

In February 2026, Hasnat contested the parliamentary elections and secured a resounding victory in the Comilla-4 constituency, leading by a massive margin. As a sitting Member of Parliament, he now focuses on translating the promises of the 2024 revolution into actionable legislative policies. He remains a vocal advocate for youth empowerment and structural democratic reforms within the government.

Md. Abul Hasnat was born in Debidwar, Comilla, to his parents Jalal Uddin and Jahanara Yeasmin. He grew up in a politically conscious environment that deeply influenced his dedication to public service and social justice.

He is happily married to Sabrina Jahan Nusrat, who has been a pillar of support throughout his tumultuous journey from a student activist to a national political figure. Together, they have a son named Hammad Abdullah Hamza.

Despite the intense pressures and heavy responsibilities of his political office, Hasnat values his family time immensely. He remains deeply connected to his local community in Comilla, frequently participating in educational initiatives and youth mentorship programs when he is not engaged in parliamentary duties.
