Ibrahim Mbaye began his youth career in 2013, playing organized soccer for ES Guyancourt where his raw talent first became evident. He spent two pivotal years there before transferring to Versailles in 2015 to further refine his technical abilities.

By 2018, his standout performances caught the attention of scouts, leading him to join the prestigious Paris Saint-Germain Academy at the age of ten. Within the PSG youth system, Mbaye consistently played above his age group, showcasing remarkable maturity and an innate understanding of the game.

His breakthrough came during the 2023–24 season when, at just 16 years old, he played a crucial role in helping the PSG under-19 team secure victory in the Championnat National U19 play-offs. Following these commanding performances, head coach Luis Enrique called him up for pre-season training with the first team in July 2024.

He made his official senior debut for Paris Saint-Germain on August 16, 2024, in a Ligue 1 match against Le Havre, becoming the youngest player to start a game for PSG at 16 years, 6 months, and 23 days. Mbaye signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2025, cementing his place in the senior squad through 2027.

Later in 2025, he broke further records by appearing in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, confirming his status as a generational talent. In 2025, despite representing France at multiple youth levels, he officially pledged his international future to the Senegal senior national team, further expanding his global footprint.

Ibrahim Mbaye was born and raised in Trappes, France, growing up in a diverse community with deep athletic roots. He comes from a multicultural background, born to a Senegalese father and a Moroccan mother, which deeply influences his personal identity. His strong connection to his father's heritage ultimately influenced his decision to represent the Senegal national team.

Despite his rapid rise to international fame, Mbaye is known for maintaining a grounded and humble lifestyle outside of football. He frequently spends his free time with close family and childhood friends from his neighborhood in France.
