Cuba Raul Mitchell

Cuba Mitchell developed his foundational footballing skills through the youth academy systems in England. He spent his early formative years at Birmingham City before transitioning to the Sunderland academy in 2022, where he progressed through their Under-18 and Under-21 development programs.

Cuba Mitchell's football career began in the youth ranks of Birmingham City, where he developed his initial skills before moving to Sunderland on a scholarship deal in 2022. He became a regular starter for Sunderland's Under-18s during the 2022–23 season and eventually made his debut for the Under-21 side. Despite facing a minor injury setback in 2023, he successfully recovered to make 16 appearances for the Under-21s in the 2023–24 season. His steady progress culminated in signing his first professional contract with Sunderland in July 2024.

Following his release from the English club in June 2025, Mitchell took a bold step by joining the Bangladesh Football League club, Bashundhara Kings, on a three-year deal. He made his professional debut in August 2025 during the AFC Challenge League preliminary stage, gaining crucial continental experience. However, his stint in South Asia was brief, as he terminated his contract in January 2026 due to administrative issues, marking a challenging phase in his early career.

Returning to the English football pyramid, Mitchell signed with Gloucester City, a Southern League Premier Division club, in February 2026. He quickly made an impact on the pitch, debuting in a hard-fought victory against Poole Town F.C. This strategic move allowed him to regain regular playing time and continue his athletic development in a competitive domestic league environment.

On the international stage, Mitchell's dual heritage offered him unique representational opportunities. In April 2025, the Bangladesh Football Federation approached him to represent the Bangladesh national team. Embracing his mother's Sylheti roots, he proudly accepted the call-up, adding valuable international experience to his growing athletic resume.

He represented Bangladesh at the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers and later made his senior international debut in late 2025. His inclusion in the national squad, sometimes stepping in as a late replacement due to injuries to veteran players, underscored his perceived value and long-term potential within the national team setup.

Cuba Mitchell embraces a rich, multicultural background, possessing both Jamaican and Bangladeshi heritage. His father's side has strong Jamaican roots, while his mother is of Bangladeshi Sylheti descent. This diverse upbringing has significantly influenced his personal identity and his proud decision to represent Bangladesh internationally.

Outside of his rigorous professional football commitments, Mitchell maintains a relatively private and grounded life. He is known to be exceptionally close to his family, who have supported his sporting ambitions from a very young age.
