Anukul Sudhakar Roy

Anukul Roy completed his primary and secondary education in Samastipur, Bihar.

He moved to Jharkhand during his teenage years to better pursue his cricketing ambitions, eventually balancing his sports career with his academic commitments in Ranchi.

Anukul Roy's professional ascent began at the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps, playing a pivotal role in India lifting the trophy under Prithvi Shaw's captaincy. This success led to an immediate IPL contract with Mumbai Indians, where he spent several seasons learning from elite international cricketers.

His domestic debut for Jharkhand in 2018 saw him quickly establish himself as a premier all-rounder. In his first few Ranji Trophy seasons, he became known for his nagging accuracy and his ability to bat for long durations in the middle order. He famously scored his maiden first-class century against Chhattisgarh, proving he was much more than just a specialist bowler.

After a few years with Mumbai Indians, where his opportunities were limited by a star-studded lineup, he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2022. At KKR, he found a system that appreciated his multi-dimensional skills. He became a tactical asset, often brought in to bowl on spin-friendly tracks or as a substitute fielder to protect crucial boundaries in the death overs.

By the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Anukul had become a veteran of the domestic circuit while maintaining his status as an IPL regular. His performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Jharkhand has been consistently high, often ranking among the top all-rounders in the tournament. His left-arm orthodox spin remains difficult to score against, particularly in the middle overs of T20 games.

His career highlights include multiple five-wicket hauls in first-class cricket and being part of two IPL-winning squads (MI 2019, 2020). As of mid-2026, he continues to strive for a senior national team call-up, maintaining high fitness levels and an impressive record in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is widely considered one of the most underrated domestic players in India, providing invaluable balance to any team he represents.
