Alejandro Zendejas began his professional soccer career as a highly touted prospect in the FC Dallas academy. In 2014, he signed a homegrown contract and debuted for the first team at just 17 years old. Seeking broader opportunities, he made a major move to Mexican giant Chivas Guadalajara in 2016. Because of Chivas' strict policy of only fielding Mexican players, Zendejas was temporarily forced to decline USMNT youth call-ups, complicating his early international trajectory.

To gain consistent playing time, Zendejas transferred to Club Necaxa in 2020. It was here that he truly broke out as a premier Liga MX talent. Playing primarily as a right winger cutting inside onto his favored left foot, he scored frequently and became the offensive focal point for the club. His stellar form at Necaxa inevitably attracted the attention of Mexico's most successful club, Club América.

In January 2022, Zendejas signed with Club América, thrusting him into the intense spotlight of the Estadio Azteca. He thrived under the immense pressure, becoming a foundational piece of their high-powered offense. He played a pivotal role in Club América winning the Apertura 2023 and Clausura 2024 Liga MX titles, firmly establishing himself as a fan favorite and a top-tier winger in the Americas.

Throughout the 2025 and 2026 campaigns, Zendejas maintained his elite domestic form. His incredible work rate, paired with his ability to deliver spectacular long-range goals, made him virtually undroppable for Club América. His sustained excellence in Liga MX continuously validated his high market value and international prestige.

Internationally, Zendejas found himself at the center of a FIFA controversy after playing in friendlies for the Mexican national team without filing a proper one-time switch from the United States. Following FIFA sanctions against Mexico, Zendejas officially announced his permanent commitment to the USMNT in March 2023. He immediately contributed to the team's CONCACAF Nations League success and ultimately secured his selection for the historic 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Alejandro Zendejas was born in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, but his family moved across the border to El Paso, Texas, when he was just a child.
