Timothy Michael Ream

Saint Louis University (2006-2009) - Earned NSCAA first-team All-Region honors while playing college soccer and studying finance and economics.

St. Dominic High School (2002-2006) - Starred for his high school team and played youth soccer with the renowned St. Louis Scott Gallagher club.

Tim Ream began his professional journey when he was drafted by the New York Red Bulls in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He made an immediate impact, starting all 30 matches during his rookie season and earning the team's Defender of the Year award. His outstanding domestic form caught the attention of European scouts, prompting a $2.5 million transfer to English side Bolton Wanderers in January 2012.

During his time at Bolton, Ream adapted quickly to the rigorous English game, winning the club's Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons. His success at Bolton led to a transfer to Fulham FC in 2015, where he truly established his European legacy. Over nine seasons, he amassed 312 appearances and helped the Cottagers earn three Premier League promotions, becoming a fan favorite at Craven Cottage.

In August 2024, Ream made a highly anticipated return to Major League Soccer, signing with Charlotte FC. He debuted later that month and quickly anchored the defense, helping Charlotte improve significantly in the Eastern Conference during the 2025 season. His veteran presence has been crucial in establishing Charlotte as a formidable playoff contender in 2026.

Ream's international career with the USMNT spans over 15 years, debuting in 2010 against South Africa. He experienced a massive resurgence late in his career, starting every match for the U.S. at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Copa America. Known for his leadership, he has captained the national team 26 times, placing him eighth on the all-time captains list.

Defying the standard athletic aging curve, Ream remained an integral part of the USMNT setup through the 2025 Gold Cup and the 2026 friendlies. His unmatched experience and tactical intelligence ultimately earned him a spot on the 2026 FIFA World Cup roster, making him one of the oldest and most respected players in the tournament.

Tim Ream was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, deeply immersed in the city's rich soccer tradition. He comes from a large, close-knit family, being the eldest of five siblings with a massive extended family that passionately supports his career. Ream met his future wife, Kristen Sapienza, while they were both starring on the men's and women's soccer teams at Saint Louis University.

Tim and Kristen were married in 2012 and are the proud parents of three children: sons Aidan and Theodore, and daughter Lilia. Despite his high-profile career, Ream is known as a devoted family man who prioritizes spending quality time with his wife and children. Returning to the United States with Charlotte FC allowed the family to put down roots closer to home.

Off the pitch, Ream's background in finance and economics reflects his pragmatic and analytical nature. He is deeply respected by his peers for his professionalism and mentorship of younger players.
