Chanchal Chowdhury's educational journey began in his hometown of Pabna, where he attended local schools. He passed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from Rajbari Government High School in 1990, demonstrating early academic diligence.

Following his secondary education, he enrolled at Rajbari Government College. He successfully completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination from the institution in 1992, paving the way for his higher studies.

Pursuing his passion for the arts, Chanchal moved to the capital and secured admission into the prestigious University of Dhaka. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Department of Fine Arts, an experience that deeply influenced his artistic sensibilities.

Chanchal Chowdhury's illustrious career began on the theatrical stage in 1996 when he joined the renowned Aranyak Nattyadal group, led by the legendary Mamunur Rashid. He made his stage debut with 'Kalo Daitya' and gradually built a reputation for his intense dedication and versatility. His performance in the 2003 play 'Che'r Cycle', where he played six different roles, is still considered a masterclass in stage acting and marked a turning point in his artistic journey.

His transition to television began in the early 2000s, with his first leading role in the drama 'Grash' (2000). However, it was his collaborations with pioneering directors like Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Gias Uddin Selim that catapulted him to nationwide fame. His roles in the commercial 'Maa' and the iconic drama 'Talpatar Shepai' (2006) showcased his unique screen presence. He became a staple in Eid-special dramas and mega-serials like 'Vober Hat' and 'Sakin Sarisuri', dominating the television landscape for over a decade.

Chanchal's entry into cinema was nothing short of spectacular. He made his film debut in Tauquir Ahmed's 'Rupkothar Golpo' (2006), earning critical acclaim. But it was the 2009 musical blockbuster 'Monpura' that established him as a cinematic superstar. His heartbreaking portrayal of Shonai won him his first National Film Award for Best Actor, and the film remains a landmark achievement in the history of Bangladeshi cinema.

He continued to push boundaries with his transformative role in 'Aynabaji' (2016), where he played a brilliant con artist who impersonates convicts. This performance earned him his second National Film Award and immense international recognition. He followed this with powerful performances in 'Debi' (2018) as the iconic character Misir Ali, and the mesmerizing mystery-drama 'Hawa' (2022), which broke box office records and garnered international acclaim.

In recent years, Chanchal has become the undisputed king of the Bengali OTT space. His gripping performances in web series like 'Taqdeer' (2020) and 'Karagar' (2022) have drawn massive viewership across Bangladesh and India. In 2024, he took on the challenging role of legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen in the biopic 'Padatik'. As of 2026, with the record-breaking international success of 'Banalata Express', Chanchal Chowdhury continues to redefine the boundaries of Bengali acting on the global stage.

Chanchal Chowdhury was born into a Hindu family in the quiet village of Kamarhaat, Pabna. He was deeply attached to his parents, Radha Gobinda Chowdhury and Nomita Chowdhury. His father's passing in December 2022 was a profound personal loss for the actor, which he shared emotionally with his fans.

In 2005, Chanchal met Shantwana Saha (Shanta), a physician by profession. Their courtship led to a legal marriage on August 7, 2007, followed by a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on August 22 of the same year. Their strong partnership has been a pillar of support throughout his demanding career.

The couple welcomed their only child, a son named Shaishob Rudra Shudda, in 2009. Chanchal frequently shares heartwarming moments of his family life on social media, showcasing a grounded and loving home environment.
