Rowshan Ara Renuka

Rowshan Ara Renuka completed her early education in local schools in her hometown in East Bengal.

Due to entering the demanding film industry at the young age of 16 in 1976, she completed her high school education while actively balancing her studies with rigorous shooting schedules.

Rozina officially commenced her acting career in 1976 at the age of 16, making her debut in the film "Rajmahal" opposite popular actor Wasim. Initially credited under the name Renu, she soon adopted the stage name Rozina, which would become synonymous with cinematic excellence. Although she faced initial challenges breaking into a highly competitive industry dominated by established stars, her raw talent and determination quickly set her apart.

By the early 1980s, Rozina had transformed into a bonafide box-office sensation. She delivered a string of massive commercial hits, including "Koshai," "Jibon Dhara," and "Manosi," establishing herself as the leading female star of the decade. Her performance in "Koshai" (1980) earned her the prestigious Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, while her compelling role in "Jibon Dhara" (1988) garnered her the National Film Award for Best Actress.

A major highlight of Rozina's career was her groundbreaking entry into the Indian film industry. In 1985, renowned Hindi film director Shakti Samanta cast her in the lead role for the Bengali film "Anyay Abichar" and its Hindi version "Aar Paar." Starring opposite legendary Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty, Rozina made history as the first Bangladeshi actress to headline a Bollywood production, earning widespread acclaim across borders.

Throughout the 1990s, Rozina continued to expand her artistic horizons by working in numerous West Bengal productions. She frequently shared the screen with prominent Indian actors like Chiranjit, Tapas Paul, and Ranjit Mallick. As the decade progressed, she gracefully transitioned into powerful character roles, portraying complex matriarchal figures that added incredible depth to her films. After 1993, she gradually reduced her acting commitments to focus on her personal life.

In the 2000s and beyond, Rozina successfully transitioned into directing and producing for television. She directed critically acclaimed serials such as "Mejdidi" and "Borodidi," based on classic literary works, and continued to make selective but impactful returns to the silver screen. In 2022, the Government of Bangladesh honored her immense legacy with the National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement, cementing her status as an eternal cinema legend.

Rowshan Ara Renuka, known affectionately as Rozina, comes from a modest and culturally rich background in East Bengal. She navigated the challenges of entering the entertainment industry at a young age, consistently supported by her close-knit family who encouraged her artistic pursuits.

She married Fadlu Miah, a supportive partner who stood by her during the peak of her demanding cinematic career. Together, they have built a private but fulfilling family life, prioritizing a sense of normalcy away from the glaring lights of the film industry. She is a dedicated mother and deeply values the time spent with her loved ones.

In her later years, Rozina has embraced a quieter lifestyle, focusing heavily on personal spirituality and philanthropy. She is actively involved in charitable activities within her local community and frequently directs her creative energy toward producing spiritually uplifting and socially conscious television dramas.
