Prabhsimran Singh completed his primary and secondary schooling in his hometown of Patiala, Punjab. Recognizing his immense potential at an early age, he balanced his foundational academic requirements with rigorous daily cricket training.

He prioritized his sporting development over higher education, dedicating his teenage years to mastering his batting and wicketkeeping skills across various Punjab age-group levels.

Prabhsimran's professional journey gained massive momentum during an Under-23 district tournament in 2018, where he smashed a phenomenal 298 off just 301 balls. This stunning knock brought him to the attention of national selectors, leading to his inclusion in the India Emerging Team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where he made his List A debut. His rapid rise was further rewarded when the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) bought the 18-year-old for a staggering ₹4.8 crore in the 2019 IPL auction.

Despite the massive price tag, his early IPL career was marked by a lack of consistent playing time. However, his domestic career continued to flourish. He made his first-class debut in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy for Punjab, announcing his arrival with a brilliant century. He also played a crucial role in Punjab's victorious campaign in the 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, showcasing his pedigree as a big-match player in the shortest format.

His true IPL breakthrough arrived in the 2023 season, where he was trusted with the opening spot and repaid the faith by scoring his maiden IPL century (103) against the Delhi Capitals. He followed this up with an even more productive season in 2025, amassing a career-best 549 runs at a formidable strike rate of over 160. During this campaign, he also became the seventh player in history to cross the 1,000-run milestone for the Punjab franchise.

Ahead of the 2026 IPL mega auction, the Punjab Kings successfully retained him for ₹4 crore, cementing his status as a key pillar of their top order. He started the 2026 tournament in blistering form, recording quickfire scores of 80 against the Mumbai Indians and a 25-ball 51 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He continues to be a dominant force in the domestic circuit, recently scoring 443 runs for Punjab in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Prabhsimran Singh was born into a sports-loving family in Patiala, Punjab. He was introduced to cricket at the age of eight and received unwavering support from his family to pursue the sport professionally. He shares a strong sporting bond with his cousin, Anmolpreet Singh, who is also an established domestic cricketer and IPL player.
