Nasum Ahmed completed his early education in Sylhet, Bangladesh, where he simultaneously nurtured his passion for cricket. Nasum Ahmed's professional career began in the domestic cricket circuits of Bangladesh, where he made his mark playing for Sylhet Division. His consistent ability to take wickets and maintain a low economy rate earned him spots in various developmental squads, including Bangladesh U19 and Bangladesh U23. These early experiences allowed him to refine his craft against high-quality local batsmen.

His breakthrough in franchise cricket came when he became a regular feature in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Representing franchises like the Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Strikers, Nasum showcased his skills against seasoned international talents. Nasum officially made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Bangladesh on March 28, 2021, against New Zealand. On August 3, 2021, Nasum took a remarkable 4 wickets for 19 runs, leading Bangladesh to their first-ever T20I victory over the formidable Australian side.

He continued his giant-slaying form in September 2021, delivering an exceptional spell of 4 for 10 against New Zealand to help secure a historic series win. These performances guaranteed his inclusion in the squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Following his T20I success, Nasum successfully transitioned to the 50-over format, making his One Day International (ODI) debut against the West Indies on July 10, 2022.

In recent years, Nasum has solidified his position as a dependable spinner in all white-ball formats. He featured prominently in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad and was a key selection for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
