Mohammad Ali completed his early and secondary education in his hometown of Sialkot. While academics were part of his upbringing, his primary focus shifted rapidly toward local tape-ball cricket tournaments, which served as his foundational training ground for fast bowling.

Mohammad Ali's professional cricketing journey began somewhat later than many of his peers, deeply rooted in the domestic structures of Pakistan. He made his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the age of 25. His raw pace and ability to extract movement off the pitch immediately made him a standout performer. In his debut season, he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for ZTBL, securing an impressive 25 dismissals in just five matches.

Following his strong red-ball start, Ali made his List A debut in October 2018 during the Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.
