Mehidy Hasan Miraz first gained international attention as the captain of the Bangladesh Under-19 team during the 2016 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament. His leadership and all-round skills during that campaign paved the way for an immediate call-up to the senior national side.

His Test debut against England in late 2016 was historic; he took 19 wickets in just two matches, leading Bangladesh to their first-ever Test victory against the English side. This spectacular entry into senior cricket immediately established him as the frontline off-spinner for the national team.

Over the next several years, Miraz worked tirelessly to improve his batting, which culminated in a spectacular maiden Test century against the West Indies in 2021. He followed this with a series of match-winning performances in One Day Internationals, including a famous century against India in 2022 while batting at number eight.
