Juan Fernando Quintero Paniagua

Quintero developed his incredibly refined technical skills at the youth academy of Envigado F.C. in Colombia. He progressed rapidly through their system, officially debuting for the senior professional team at the exceptionally young age of 16.

Juan Fernando Quintero began his professional career with Envigado in 2009, immediately drawing massive comparisons to legendary playmakers due to his exceptional left foot. After a brief but highly successful spell at Atlético Nacional, he made the massive jump to European football in 2012, joining Italian Serie A side Pescara. His spectacular performances in Italy subsequently earned him a high-profile transfer to Portuguese giants FC Porto in 2013.

While at Porto, he gained valuable UEFA Champions League experience but struggled for consistent starting minutes, leading to loan spells at Rennes in France and Independiente Medellín back in Colombia. His career was spectacularly revived when he joined Argentine heavyweights River Plate in 2017. He utilized football as his primary escape from the surrounding violence, developing his incredible technical skills on the tight, concrete courts of his neighborhood.

He is married to his incredibly supportive wife, Johana Osorio, and the couple shares a deeply loved daughter named María José. Quintero is intensely passionate about music and frequently spends his free time producing reggaeton tracks. He is close childhood friends with global music superstar Maluma, with whom he originally played youth football in Medellín before their respective careers diverged into sports and music.
