Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah completed his early education at Nirman High School in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where his mother was a school teacher. It was during his school years that he began honing his unique bowling action, often practicing by aiming at the base board of walls to perfect his yorker.

Jasprit Bumrah first burst onto the competitive cricket scene during the 2012–13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, helping Gujarat secure their maiden title with his unusual yet effective bowling style. His raw talent immediately caught the eye of John Wright, leading to a contract with the Mumbai Indians for the 2013 Indian Premier League season. He made an instant impression on his IPL debut by taking three crucial wickets, signaling the arrival of a special talent.

His consistent performances in the IPL and domestic circuits earned him a call-up to the Indian national team, making his ODI and T20I debuts in early 2016 against Australia. He quickly established himself as a limited-overs specialist, renowned for his ability to bowl accurate yorkers in the death overs. In 2016, he claimed the record for the most T20I wickets in a calendar year, cementing his spot in the national white-ball squads.

In January 2018, Bumrah successfully transitioned to Test cricket, making his debut against South Africa and instantly proving his effectiveness with the red ball. He played a pivotal role in India's historic Test series victory in Australia during the 2018-19 tour, consistently dismantling the opposition's top order. His phenomenal performances earned him the distinction of becoming the quickest Indian pacer to reach 100 Test wickets.

A severe lower-back stress fracture in 2022 sidelined him for nearly a year, causing him to miss major tournaments and raising doubts about his future workload capacity. However, Bumrah silenced his critics with a magnificent comeback in 2023, meticulously rehabilitating and refining his technique. He returned to absolute peak form, anchoring the Indian pace attack during the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup campaigns.

In 2024, Bumrah reached the pinnacle of global recognition by being named the T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament and winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. By 2026, he remains the unquestioned leader of the Indian bowling attack and a core superstar for the Mumbai Indians. He continues to dominate international batters, universally recognized by peers and pundits alike as the most complete fast bowler of his generation.

Jasprit Bumrah was born into a Sikh family in Gujarat and faced profound tragedy early in life when his father passed away when Bumrah was just five years old. He was raised by his mother, Daljeet, who worked tirelessly as a school principal to support his cricketing ambitions. This deep bond with his mother has remained a central pillar of his life and career.

In March 2021, Bumrah married Sanjana Ganesan, a prominent sports presenter, in a private ceremony in Goa. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Angad, in September 2023. Bumrah is known for keeping his personal life relatively private, preferring to let his performances on the field do the talking.

Off the field, he enjoys a quiet, luxury lifestyle, owning premium properties in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, along with a collection of high-end automobiles. He has also ventured into the business world, making strategic investments in eco-friendly direct-to-consumer brands and real estate, securing his financial future beyond his playing days.
