Fargana pursued her higher secondary and undergraduate education in her hometown of Gaibandha. She successfully managed her rigorous academic schedule alongside intense daily cricket practice, laying a disciplined foundation for her future professional sporting career.

Fargana Hoque burst onto the international cricket scene making her ODI debut for Bangladesh against Ireland on November 26, 2011. Shortly after, she made her T20I debut against the same opposition in August 2012. From the onset of her career, she displayed a mature temperament at the crease, quickly securing her spot as a permanent fixture in the middle order.

Throughout the 2010s, Fargana established herself as the unshakeable backbone of the Bangladeshi batting lineup. She played crucial knocks in multiple ICC Women's World Twenty20 tournaments and Asia Cup campaigns. Her ability to rotate the strike and stabilize the innings during middle-over collapses made her an indispensable asset to the national team's strategy across all formats.

A defining moment in her career occurred on July 22, 2023, during an ODI match against India Women. Fargana scored a magnificent 107 runs, etching her name in history as the very first Bangladeshi female cricketer to score a century in One Day Internationals. This monumental innings showcased her flawless technique and immense concentration against a formidable bowling attack.

In T20 Internationals, she has also demonstrated her dynamic scoring abilities, highlighted by a breathtaking 110-run knock against Maldives Women in 2019. This century remains one of the highest individual scores by a Bangladeshi player in the shortest format of the game. Her consistent run-scoring has seen her accumulate nearly 2,000 ODI runs and over 1,200 T20I runs by 2026.

Beyond her international duties, Fargana is an active participant in domestic cricket leagues, mentoring younger players and leading by example. Entering the 2026 season, she remains a senior leader in the dressing room, guiding the team through crucial ICC Women's Championship fixtures.
