Daniel Johnson Burn

Dan Burn attended South Beach First School and Wensleydale Middle School in his native Blyth before completing his secondary education at Blyth Community College.

He later balanced his early semi-professional football pursuits with studying sports science at a local college while playing in the lower leagues.

Dan Burn's professional footballing journey began in the youth systems of local grassroots clubs like New Hartley and Blyth Spartans before being recruited by Darlington in 2009. He made his senior debut in the Football League later that year, showcasing massive defensive promise despite the club's struggles. In 2011, his impressive performances prompted a transfer to London side Fulham, where he carefully refined his tactical understanding.

To secure vital first-team minutes, Burn completed highly successful loan spells at Yeovil Town and Birmingham City. He famously scored at Wembley Stadium during the 2013 League One play-off final, guiding Yeovil to a historic promotion. Internationally, Burn received his highly anticipated maiden senior call-up for England at the age of 32 in March 2025. Dan Burn was born to his parents, David and Kay Burn, who fiercely supported his early passion for football and purchased his first Newcastle United kits. He grew up in a tight-knit household alongside close childhood friends with whom he remains in contact. He has often spoken about how his early experiences working in a supermarket helped shape his humble, hard-working attitude.

He is happily married to his longtime partner, Roz, a native of Cramlington who has been a constant source of support. The couple shares a loving family environment with their two young children, Indi and Ari.
