Cyle Christopher Larin

Larin attended St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton, where he absolutely dominated as the top goalscorer for three consecutive years. He later earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Connecticut (UConn), playing highly competitive NCAA Division I college soccer for the Huskies and showcasing his readiness for the professional draft.

Cyle Larin's professional career officially launched when he was selected first overall by Orlando City SC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He made an immediate, explosive impact, breaking the all-time MLS rookie scoring record by netting an astonishing 17 goals in just 27 matches. His incredible performances earned him the prestigious MLS Rookie of the Year award and instantly solidified his reputation as a premier North American striker.

In January 2018, seeking to test his abilities in Europe, Larin transferred to the prominent Turkish club Beşiktaş. While his initial seasons included periods of adjustment and a highly successful loan spell at the Belgian side Zulte Waregem, he ultimately returned to Turkey to deliver a phenomenal 2020-2021 campaign. His spectacular goal-scoring form helped Beşiktaş secure a highly coveted domestic double, including the Süper Lig title.

Following the expiration of his contract in Turkey, Larin embarked on a journey through several competitive European divisions. He spent time with the Belgian powerhouse Club Brugge before moving to the Spanish La Liga with Real Valladolid and subsequently RCD Mallorca. These challenging stints refined his tactical understanding of European football and significantly improved his physical hold-up play against elite center-backs.

During the 2025-2026 season, Larin found massive renewed success on loan at the English Championship club Southampton. He rapidly became a crucial offensive piece, scoring vital goals that propelled the Saints into a deep FA Cup run and the all-important promotional playoff final. His robust physical conditioning and relentless pressing perfectly suited the grueling, high-paced nature of English football.

On the international stage, Larin has been a phenomenal servant for the Canadian national team since his senior debut in 2014. He led the entire CONCACAF region in scoring during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. As Canada prepares to proudly co-host the monumental 2026 FIFA World Cup, Larin’s vast international experience and devastating striking ability make him a critical asset for a team looking to make a historic tournament run.

Cyle Larin was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario, heavily influenced by the rich cultural heritage of his Jamaican family. Growing up in a passionate, sports-centric household, he naturally gravitated towards soccer, dedicating countless hours to refining his exceptional athletic skills at the local Sigma FC academy. He often credits his hardworking parents for instilling the fierce discipline required to succeed overseas.

Larin maintains a relatively low-profile personal life, consciously choosing to keep his private relationships and family matters away from the glaring public spotlight. He is known among his teammates as a quiet, dedicated professional who prefers to let his undeniable on-field performances speak for his character. He maintains close, lifelong friendships with many of his former academy peers in Ontario.

Outside of his rigorous football commitments, Larin is highly passionate about expanding youth athletic opportunities across Canada. He actively supports various grassroots soccer programs in the Greater Toronto Area, providing necessary funding and high-quality equipment to young, underprivileged players. His primary philanthropic goal is to ensure that aspiring Canadian talents have visible, accessible pathways to professional European leagues.
